Four phases that determine access

Each phase determines who can register and whether an additional launch fee applies.

01Sunrise

Exact-match trademark holders with TMCH validation.

02EAP

Public, first come first served, with a descending one-time access fee.

03Limited

Eligibility or channel rules apply; “open” does not mean open to everyone.

04GA

Public registration at standard registrar pricing.

FAQ

New TLD launch questions
What is the Early Access Period for a new TLD?
EAP is a launch phase before General Availability. Anyone can usually register an available name, but a one-time access fee is added and normally falls on each successive day. It is not an expired-domain backorder or drop-catching system.
Does a TLD preorder guarantee the domain?
No. A registrar submits the request when the selected phase opens, but another registrar, an earlier phase, a premium or reserved-name rule, or registry eligibility can prevent registration. Each route below states whether it is a binding preorder or only a notification watch.
Can anyone register during Sunrise?
No. Sunrise normally requires a validated trademark in the Trademark Clearinghouse and a matching Signed Mark Data file. Public access begins only in an EAP, another limited phase, or General Availability.
Why does Domain.Guru show TBA instead of a registrar's date?
Registrars sometimes publish provisional dates before the registry. We label those dates as estimates and start a countdown only after the registry or ICANN confirms the schedule.
