We store almost nothing.

What stays in your browser

These live in your browser's local storage. They never reach a server, we cannot read them, and clearing your browser data deletes them permanently:

• dg-watch — the TLDs you starred
• dg-watch-seen — for each starred TLD, the cheapest renewal you last saw and the day, so the watchlist can tell you when it gets cheaper
• dg-track — the extensions you marked for local price tracking
• dg-text-size — standard or large interface text
• dg-motion — device motion preference or reduced motion
• dg-currency — the currency you last switched to
• dg-lang — the language you chose, or the one of the last page you read in a language other than English
• dg-offer — that you answered the one-time offer to show the site in your browser's language, so it is not made again
• dg-density — comfortable or terminal table rows
• dg-bulk — the last list you pasted into the bulk checker
• dg-reg-shortlist — the registrars you placed in the comparison shortlist
• dg:quick-comparison:v1 — the five extensions you chose for the long price on the home page

Earlier versions of the site also saved a theme choice (dg-theme) and a design choice (dg-design). Neither exists any more, and both are deleted from your browser the next time you open a page here.

The bulk portfolio checker runs entirely in your browser. Your domain list is never uploaded. If you own 400 domains, we never learn a single one of them.

What we don't do

• No accounts, newsletter or marketing mailing list. Your email is requested only when you choose to send a contact message.
• No advertising network, no retargeting, no fingerprinting, no session recording.
• No selling, renting or sharing of data. There is no data to sell.
• No cookies for tracking. The site works with cookies fully disabled.

Requests that leave your browser

Editing the extensions of the long price on the home page downloads the same public price summary for everyone from this website, and saving a choice of your own downloads one more file that is the same for everyone: each extension's cheapest registrars over ten years. Restoring saved choices loads both. Your chosen extensions and the search text in that picker stay in your browser; neither is included in the request.

Opening Search on a page that has no search box of its own downloads the same public index of extensions and registrars for everyone, from this website. What you type is matched against it in your browser and is never sent anywhere.

When your watchlist is not empty, each page downloads the same list of today's cheapest renewals for everyone, from this website, and compares it in your browser with what you last saw. Which extensions you watch is never included in the request. The price-drop feeds (/feed.xml, and one on every extension's page) are ordinary public files: a feed reader that follows them tells us nothing about you that a page visit would not.

On an extension's page you can ask whether a specific name is taken. That check is a live lookup against rdap.org, the public registration-data service, so the name you type in that box is sent to them. If you would rather not send a name, don't use that box — every price on the page is there without it.

When the site shows its menus in a language other than English on a page written in English, your browser fetches that language's words from this site — a file like any other here, the same for everyone. Nothing is sent with it, and the language you chose stays in your browser.

The name search prices a name in your browser and sends it nowhere. Only when you press Check which are free does it ask each extension's own registry, through the public registration-data (RDAP) service that registry publishes in IANA's list: the name is then sent to each of those registries, once each, and none of it passes through Domain.Guru.

If you submit the contact form, the name, email address, topic, optional reference and message you provide are sent to Web3Forms and forwarded to the Domain.Guru inbox. Web3Forms processes the request from infrastructure in the United States; its current privacy FAQ describes its handling of submissions and server logs. The resulting email is kept only as long as needed to answer the message, resolve a reported issue or meet a legal obligation. The bulk checker, watchlist, currency and display settings still remain local.

Server logs

The site is static files on a hosting provider. Like any web server, that host records standard request logs — IP address, timestamp, requested page, browser user-agent — for security and abuse prevention. We do not join those logs to anything else and do not use them to build profiles.

When you leave the site

Registrar links take you to third-party websites. Once you leave Domain.Guru, that registrar's privacy policy and cookies apply. Domain.Guru does not receive your checkout details.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure and portability. The data in your browser is already under your control — clearing site data erases it. If you have sent a contact message, use the contact desk to request access to or deletion of that correspondence. If these practices change, this page changes first, with the date below updated.
